Stainless steel cookware is considered a good choice of cookware for the kitchen. It is the most popular cookware in North America. It is heavy-duty, durable, corrosive resistant and easy to maintain. I was watching to late one night and saw the infomercial for Robert Ferguson’s Food Lovers Fat Loss System. It was interesting to watch because the infomercial seemed kinda unbelievable – not to me but as I would imagine, the thousands of other people watching who needed to drop some pounds. Pizza? Biscuits and Gravy? Robert Ferguson says that you can eat anything you like and still lose weight. Weren’t we always told to stay away from these foods if we wanted to lose weight? It may seem trendy to own an exotic pet, but owning an otter as a pet is illegal in most localities without a permit. They are considered wildlife and have requirements that are different from those of the average household pet. Reasons Not to Own a Pet Otter If you are considering applying for a permit to own a pet otter, here are some reasons why you may not want to. Of course, if you work at a zoo or wildlife sanctuary, then these reasons won’t concern you as much. Otters Bite Otters have very sharp teeth, and they bite. Otters Spray Otters have a musky scent and spray very much like a skunk’s spray. They are definitely not inside animals. Otters are Nocturnal They like to hunt for food at night, and the last sound you need at night while you are trying to sleep is that of an […]

For many years, interior lighting design has existed within the confines of the light switch. The nature of the traditional light switch has created societies bad habit of leaving the lights on. Businesses noticed a hefty portion of their operating costs were being contributed to lighting their buildings. The solution to this problem was the introduction of automated lighting controls, and the most notable component of them all would be the occupancy sensor switch. An occupancy sensor replaces or supplements a traditional light switch to turn the lights on when an occupant is detected in a room and turn the lights off automatically when no one is detected in the room for a designated period of time. First introduced for commercial buildings, occupancy sensor controls are now being developed for residential applications, and deliver proportional benefits at an affordable price. Three advantages of employing these controls in your home include; […]

I love coffee, and I drink it everyday. In the past, I suffered from acid reflux, and I had a flare-up if I even thought about drinking coffee. It became so bad that my throat would burn most of the day, and I had to sleep with my head elevated. In retrospect, I realized I was consuming too many trigger foods, the worst of which was coffee. I'd drink coffee daily, and every time I'd get heartburn. It did not take a doctor to determine that there was a link. Actually, medical researchers have determined that coffee does not cause acid reflux. That is, if you do not already have acid reflux, coffee will not give you the condition. However, it sure can exacerbate an existing condition and induce a flare-up. Caffeine is widely known to be a major trigger food for people with heartburn. The market is full of […]

The Arawak, Carib, and Taino Indians were the first inhabitants of the Caribbean islands. These first inhabitants occupied the present day islands of British Virgin Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Trinidad, and Jamaica. Their daily diet consisted of vegetables and fruits such as papaw, yams, guavas, and cassava. The Taino started the process of cooking meat and fish in large clay pots. The Arawaks are the first people known to make a grate of thin green wood strips on which they slowly cooked meat, allowing it to be enhanced by the flavor of the wood. This grate was called a barbacoa, and the word we know today as barbeque is taken from this early Indian cooking method. The Carib Indians added more spice to their food with hot pepper sauces, and also added lemon and lime juice to their meat and fish recipes. The Caribs are said to have made […]

Everyone will ask you to eat only 'healthy' food and avoid cold or cooling food as your body is cold after childbirth. This applies to the 3 main races in Malaysia but sometimes, what is considered 'healthy' may be 'cooling' for another which increases our dilemma. The best option is to try out the food as far as your culture and religion advices and learn to substitute the ingredients wherever possible to suit your taste. I am afraid that my culinary expertise is limited to Chinese and Western food so I can only talk about this type of food at this moment in time. Traditional Chinese confinement food consoles mainly of old ginger, rice wine, sesame oil, black vinegar, some warming alcohol, lots of meat especially kampong chicken and lean pork, white fish such as white pomfret and some vegetables. Appropriately, you are expected to eat 30 chickens, 12 bottles […]
