Moving is about as stressful a time as any in our lives and the lives of our fids. Having just completed moving the "gang" into a new house, I thought I would share some of the things that helped our move go smoothly. The feathered crew (Alex and Zeke, African Greys and April, Umbrella Cockatoo) have settled in nicely and things returned to normal quickly. Granted, the move was to a nearby city and we were not on the road in the U-Haul for more than an hour, but I believe preparing the birds had everything to do with their reduced stress level and smooth transition. I also want to mention that there is the coolest service for moving called PODS (Portable On Demand Storage). I had it delivered to my old house the weekend before the actual move. This allowed me to pack up all my non-essentials at my […]

He should generally have the foods he likes. However he should not devour on one particular food type as it is important to practice moderation in eating. He should eat the food slowly […]

Are your veterinarian bills mounting up because your cat has one health problem after another?  Are you using those “wipes” on your cat every week because its coat gets a little oily and smelly? Check the ingredients list on the food.  Even if you are buying premium cat food from a well know producer of pet food, chances are you will find some form of grain listed close to the top of the list. The Simple Magic of Herbs Over the years I have tended everything from a 30 by 30 foot monster herb garden, to the odd herb here and there in the garden, to a small plot near the back door. My favorite is a beautiful pot planted with my own favorites located in a sunny spot that is handy to the kitchen. Hint: this makes a welcome and thoughtful hostess gift throughout the season. I found a parking space beside the Anstruther Fish Bar on the Shore Road not 30 metres from the museum and made straight for the museum. After a coffee and cake at the museum cafe, I paid the entrance fee to the elderly lady volunteer at the entrance desk who advised me that I couldn’t use my camera inside and handed me an A4 guide to the layout of the museum. The entrance to the exhibits is through a courtyard littered with random anchors, rope, netting, and in the top right hand side, a large shallow pond made of black plastic measuring maybe 5 by 5 metres. There was no clue as to the function of this pool, however, a brief conversation with the lady at the entrance desk revealed […]
